The BMW R100GS Paris-Dakar was a series of special edition, dual sport motorcycles that were introduced in 1988, with production continuing until 1996. A total of 8772 factory examples were manufactured in this period. Based on the existing R100GS model, the Paris-Dakar (also referred to as the PD) was inspired by the famous Paris-Dakar rally, and was equipped with a larger fuel tank, front impact bars, and a luggage rack among its many features.
